No one likes to fight over child custody, but the well being of children outweighs our own likings in any way. If parents can't reach an agreement, in a fair and reasonable fashion, Custody Toolbox can help them organize their shared custody of the child. Like other organizers, it includes a calendar and various tools for recording expenses and other information. The main difference is that Custody Toolbox focuses on the time a parent spends with his children.

The installation file is not large, so it can be downloaded even with slower Internet connections. It launches a standard wizard, which takes the user through a straightforward setup process. The software works on numerous Windows versions, from Windows ME to Win 7.

Before using the software's core functions, you will have to go through a series of initial configurations. They are presented step by step, in logical order, by a wizard. During this setup process, you will have to specify the mother's and father's names, associate them with different colors and define a parenting schedule for both persons. Once the initial setup is complete, the calendar's cells will contain colored bars, indicating which parent is spending time with the child on certain dates. The cells in which the bars appear and their colors depend entirely on your initial settings. You can change their layout only by going through the same configurations.

While the calendar view is active, you may use a series of options, located on the software's toolbar, to add events on selected dates, set up and manage alarms or print the current month. You can access other sections on the interface with the aid of navigation buttons, located on the left side of the window. The Journal page is where you can add journal entries, as well as expenses and mileage logs. General information about children, as well as school or medical information can be added in separate boxes, on the Child Info page.

Additionally, the software lets you compile an address book, with a wide range of contact information, create a To-do list and print various types of reports. Options for printing a calendar report, journal, parenting time and other reports are found in separate boxes, on the last page. Some boxes contain selection options to include or exclude certain details.

Pros

Custody Toolbox offers the same features as most organizers, but it is easier to use. A parent can use it to organize the time he spends with his children. The software's features are organized on separate pages, making them easy to find.

Cons

The initial configuration process is a bit long. If you are in the unfortunate situation of sharing the custody of your child, Custody Toolbox will help you organize your time, so he may enjoy all your attention.
